Five signs your processes need a redesign
Not every problem needs software. Some just need the work rearranged. These are the signals worth watching.
The same delay keeps appearing
If a task is late every month for the same reason, that is not bad luck. It is a design problem. Track the cause for a few cycles and the pattern usually points to a single step that holds everything up.
Work depends on one person
When a process stops the moment one colleague is on leave, the knowledge is trapped. Writing the steps down and sharing them removes the risk and usually reveals simpler ways to do the work.
Rework is normal
Handoffs with no clear standard produce mistakes that get corrected later. A short checklist at the handoff point often removes more rework than any system can.
Approvals stack up
If small decisions need three signatures, people wait. Setting clear limits by role lets routine choices move without the queue.
Data is retyped
Entering the same information into two places invites errors and wastes time. It is often cheaper to fix the process than to buy another tool.
